Ewen Jones was elected to the House of Representatives as the Federal Member for Herbert in 2010. He was elected to his second term in 2013.
Ewen is passionate about Townsville and the potential the city has to develop further. His goal is for a Townsville that is an international city of great regional importance, not just for the export of high quality goods and services, but an educational, cultural and commercial hub.
Ewen was appointed a Government Whip in September 2015 and was also the Chair of the House of Representatives Committee on Education & Employment.
Prior to his political career Ewen was an auctioneer, a profession which brought him to Townsville in 1994. He has also worked in the financial services sector and in real estate.
Queensland has always been home for Ewen, he was born in Quilpie, brought up in Texas (Queensland) and attended Toowoomba Grammar School as a boarder. He is married with three children – two grown up daughters and a teenage son.
